Hurricane Zeta update (Oct. 28 - 8:30pm)
According to the National Weather Service, the eye of Hurricane Zeta has passed through the city. Entergy is reporting more than 22,000 customers currently without power in all areas throughout the city. No restoration is available at this time.
It appears the worst of the rain is over, although some rain bands with potentially strong winds are continuing to move through the city, according to forecasters.
There are numerous reports of power lines, power poles and trees down in the city, and fire and police are responding to calls and assessing damage.
Residents are urged to remain inside and off the streets until the storm has completely passed to give city crews and Entergy the time to remove debris and potentially energized power lines from the roadways.
